Dash lights partially out.

Dash lights partially out.

Postby TrevorGTP » Sat Jun 23, 2012 9:27 pm

the subjects says it all. Is it a bulb that needs to be replaced? or do I need a whole new dash. I'm guessing a bulb but was wondering if anyone ran into this.

Your dash board consists of like 20 bulbs... where exactly?

I have a some what's similar problem... Only difference is the gas gauge and half of the rpm gauge work sometimes but then goes out on its own.. When I first start the car for the da and turn on the lights all the lights on the gauges will work, then after driving for approx 5 minutes only half of it works... It's def not a bulb issue, so what else could it be if its intermittent?

I just did a little research and I came up with a potential solution... Going to attempt this later but I'm thinking I should pull the gauge cluster out and look at the soldering joints and see if they need to be resolded if that's the case it should fix it... Anyone else experience this issue in there Grand Prix before?

Sounds like a bad solder joint. You can't always tell by sight. Did you resolder them or just look at them?

I just looked at them, but none of them appears to be bad.. I'm stumped.

I know you said it wasn't a bulb issue but did you replace it? If you haven't try that usually its the bulb but not sure.
