Going turbo

Postby Swiggles » Sun Aug 05, 2012 10:08 am

Well as some of you may know I'm going turbo :D . I was able to trader for most of the parts and will end making a little money when sell the rest. I pieced it together rather quickly, and u have just about everything for the install ready to go. Jason is polishing my l26 intake, and yesturday he drop off my 91k l36 from an fbody. I will end up using the fbody intake sometime next year, I just don't have the money for it this time. More will be added as things get put together. Turbo, cam, and tb will be here tomorrow. Motor might end up get an l36 uim while I wait for the l26 polishing to be finished.

So the motor will be:

- L36 with a polished l26 uim
- hv3 insert
- stage 3 zzp l67 heads with 130# springs
- comp cam 1.7 roller rockers
- Stattama stage 2 cam
- double rollmaster
- ls7 lifters
- comp cam stock size pushrods
- Mls head gaskets .056
- Z7 turbo pipes with intercooler
- 256s Bog Warner turbo with .70 ar
- 3" tog downpipe with cutout
- 3" resonator pipe to borla exhaust at the Y
- Tial bov
- Tial wastegate 38mm
- ported l67 tb with fixed AFC
- dual valve catch can

No Derek I blew that motor up. Popped 3 pistons on it because my rocker geometry was off and I had way too much lift. I got about 50k out of it though and it was still running strong until then.

I'll be using a 91k fbody l36 for this build

Heres my big update. Progress has been really slow, work picked up for a few weeks and i had to send out all of exhaust stuff to zzp for them to make my custom 3" upper turbo downpipe. They ran into a few snags and had fix and change my cross over around. But I'm glad I went with them because things would not have fit right when went to install if they hadnt got the parts for the downpipe. Those parts will all be here tomorrow, some other misc stuff will be here beginning of next week, and I still have to meet up with Max for the torque converter before I can put the motor back in.

I decided to go with 1.6 roller rockers since Max was selling the set i wanted and i already had someone who wanted the 1.7s so I didn't have to pay anything for them.

Just about everything on the car will AN lines, man those add up quick  . but it will be worth it once its all put together.

Polishing on the UIM looks great so far but i still need to get it soda blaster which i should have done from the start and saved Jason's arms and sanity.

So on to some picks...

What came out, traded the GenV and TOGs for the turbo and ST2 cam.
Image
Putting this block in, 91K from a '97 Camaro. I will probably be selling the intake.
Image
Cleaning the block didnt take much. Jason did all the work so it was a breeze for me  .
Image
You can even see the arrow on the pistons, damn this motor was clean.
Image
Got the 1.6 rockers in the mail today, second time I've bought them from Max lol.
Image
To top off the heads.
Image
AN fittings on the back of the UIM for the vacuum block feed.
Image
OOO shiny. The L67 adapter is on upside down so i can use the stock l26 EVAP location. I'm hoping this will work.
Image
Ported L67 TB.
Image
Got some nice bolts for the sensors.
Image
OOO shiny turbo
Image
And to protect it all and let that extra heat out. Thanks Jason's dad!! Its painted now, but I'm waiting till it goes on for those pics.

they are 06+ l32 valve covers that come in black stock, then i got the valve cover overlays from reflective concepts and only used the center ones.
